If you are coming by car or by motorbike... you should reach the Livorno-Grosseto highway, exiting at San Vincenzo or better at Venturina, then go straight to Piombino Marittima. If you are coming from North, you can take the highway until Rosignano Marittima (A12 Genova Rosignano), which also connects Bologna, Parma and Firenze. The Rosignano Marittima exit is directly connected to the Livorno-Grosseto highway.If you are coming from South you can take the highway Roma-Civitavecchia to the last exit, which is directly connected to the A1 Aurelia road, and then to the Livorno-Grosseto highway.
If you are coming by train... you should reach the Campiglia Marittima station, then take a regional train to Piombino Marittima and finally a ferry boat to Portoferraio.
Once you reach Piombino Marittima ... take a ferry boat to Portoferraio (about one hour trip). Two shipping Companies are available, namely Toremar and Moby Lines, with the respective ticketing offices located at the Piombino Marittima harbor. From Portoferraio you should go to Marciana, through Procchio and Marciana Marina. Renting a car is possible in Portoferraio, but buses and taxi are also available, located in the near proximity of the harbor.
